about

Before petrol prices were quite so crippling, I used to drive around aimlessly in my car. A lot. For no reason. This song is kind of about that, except I don't really like gabba and my love for AC/DC and Abba is fairly recent. Beethoven's cool though.

I wrote the chorus ages ago but didn't have the skill to put chords to it or finish it off. The words to the last bit about all the number plates is damn near indecipherable. Which is a shame cos I spent bloody ages on them.

lyrics

Lyrics:

We should go outside, come on we’ll take a ride in my car
Pull into the drive, just try not to collide with my car
We’ll put it to the test, a Lexus couldn’t vex this motor
It’s a work of art, efficient German parts in my car

When the engine’s roaring, I can just ignore that squeaky noise when I hit the brakes
Cranking up some gabba, Beethoven or Abba
Doing whatever it takes
To vent all my frustration with my situation, be a different version of me
I’ll stay out of trouble in my metal bubble
Living anonymously

So I don’t know my neighbours’ names
But I know all their number plates

We should go outside, come on we’ll take a ride in my car
You should try and hide, it’s social suicide in my car

No rest, it’s Destination: Fun!
I don’t have to talk to anyone
I still don’t know my neighbours’ names
But I know all their number plates

My little Ford Fiesta’s no Ferrari Testarossa, but it gets me around
From A to B and back, I’m blasting Back in Black
I’m ignoring the sights, ignoring the sounds, I’m coming round!

We should go outside, come on we’ll take a ride in my car
No need to be snide, you know I take some pride in my car
But we could have a whale of a time! It hasn’t failed me so far…
“Where do you reside?” she sighed and I replied “In my car.”

AK57 WGD, he never really seems to want to stop for me
GW11 EPC will keep M427 ATS’ wife happy
While she seems quite contented to be kept up late
With A41 ECB down at number 8
Old GIT 42C hasn’t moved for days
His post is piling up, he won’t pull down the shades
Oh, these are just some observations I have made in my car
